How does your garden grow? I'm a bit chuffed at the moment. But my carrots are disappointing. Do you find them hard to grow?

One problem with growing carrots is that they need well-worked, loose soil. If it's rocky, hard clay or compacted, the roots will struggle to push through and might end up turning tough, woody or misshapen. They also do better in cool weather and should be planted in early spring or late summer for a second fall crop.
