Apple iPad: 1024 x 768 pixels
When comparing the Kindle to the iPad in terms of resolution, there is no comparison. The Apple iPad was made to represent a touch screen computer, whereas the Amazon Kindle was made for memory stick downloads of books (thus not needing a high resolution as it is predominately used for reading). The Apple iPad is like a big iPhone, not only can it be used to read but for Apple Store Apps and Internet Surfing.
Hope this helps,
Silvos.

True the iPad has more pixels, but the screen is bigger as well. When it comes to screens, resolution isn't everything. Text on a Kindle generally looks sharper than on an iPad because of the high contrast ratio of e-ink technology.
