How does the piano soothe and relax?

Most of the music that I hear that is calm and relaxing is on the piano - however I also know that piano music is found in many other genres. Is there a certain feature that makes a person feel more relaxed?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are some soundscape pieces you can buy. If you listen to minor disharmonic chords it is not going to be very relaxing. Most people like harmonizing, soft, and fairly slow paced piano music when they try to relax. The soundscape typically pairs the piano with rain or a thunderstorm and the piano then keeps pace with a soothing melody that isn't too complicated.

I agree. In fact, there is a website, RainyMood, that adds a rain soundscape to music which I find comforting and enhances music.

It would really be hard not to be soothed and relaxed after listening to "Moonlight Sonata."

After searching "Moonlight" into YouTube, I also came across a beautiful song by a Japanese pianist Yiruma.

I really don't how it soothes and relaxes, But I totally agree that it does! I love piano music for that very reason, and I think the Piano has an added soul somehow. Whether it be classical, blues or jazz, it seems to touch a nerve
