For as long as I can remember, the Mercedes Benz S-Class has always been one of the most well known and well respected luxury sedans out there. To some people, they simply can't be compared to luxury cars from any other manufacturer.
However, there are a fair number of competitors out there. Other companies that compete directly with the S-Class include Lexus, BMW, Audi, Jaguar and even Maserati.
One thing I like about the S-Class is simply the number of variations that are available. You can buy a hybrid S-Class, the S550, and even the S600 with a V12 engine. There is also a V8 AMG version and a 12 AMG model. You can pay as little as $91,000 for a new 2011 model if you like, but you can also pay over $200,000 for the S65 with 604 horse power.
