How does the fruit in an Edible Arrangements Bouquet stay fresh?

Does it have some sort of preservatives in the fruit? Does it come dry-iced packed? Is it good for you really?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The fruit in the edible arrangements stay fresh because they are not made until you order them. To find out if delivery is available in your area call 877-DO-FRUIT (877-363-7848), or check online at www.ediblearrangements.com in most cases same day delivery is possible. Delivery is $12.00 and they are available seven days a week.

According to the edible arrangements web site, they do not use or add preservatives of any sort to their product. They keep the fruit fresh by using a refrigerated truck to deliver each arrangement. Since they do not use dry ice, and no preservatives are added they are just as healthy as regular fruit ( unless you get the chocolate dipped option)

None of the product ever gets shipped, to ensure freshness. If you don't have a delivery option in your area you could always try making one yourself :

Hope this helps!

I know they're made to order, but as a foodie I also know that to keep, for example, apples from turning brown, LEMON JUICE or some other citric acid will do the trick. Completely edible and the taste of lemon isn't there. It doesn't need to be slathered on--just a quick brush will do it.

My amateur culinary experience's guess.

My years of watching cooking shows actually did teach me something!

"To keep fruits from discoloring after they are peeled, cut the pieces into a bowl of salted water (about 1 tablespoon to a quart of water). This works well with apples, peaches, pears, avocados and other produce."

It goes on to say "Toss fresh fruit with lemon juice, and it will not darken. The juice of half a lemon is enough for a quart or two of cut fruits."

Sorry it took me a few hours to get the source in--I had to run out.

They have 943 stores and only deliver to surrounding zip codes. The arrangements are wrapped and sent out ready to eat. It is suppose to be refridgerated in its wrapping if it isn't going to be eaten right away. There are no preservatives added so it will expire like any other fruit. You may even need to remove the fruit from the toothpicks and put them in a container in the fridge if it has not been fully consumed after it is unwrapped. It is just as healthy as any other natural fruit it just looks a whole lot better.
