How does social investing site cakefinancial.com make money?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It seems they make money from the brokerage firms as well as "third parties".

I received an offer to sell my client list a few years ago... $5 per name. Needless to say, I refused.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

ZDNet speculated in 2007 that they would eventually charge subscriptions or fees for services:

but I betcha at this point, it's still venture-capitalized. In September '08, Crunchbase listed "Alsop Louie Partners and angel investors including Baseline Ventures, Fred M. Gibbons and Geoff Ralston" as investors:
