How does one become a professor of drama?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Drama professors must have earned a Ph D in their subject. Some colleges will accept a Master’s Degree, but those positions are becoming more and more rare. So get your Ph D.
While you are working on it, you will more than likely be required to teach some courses at the undergraduate level. This will give you the chance to teach and learn what skills you will need when later you get a classroom of your own. Learn all you can from your classes.
As the drama professor, you may be called upon to stage plays for the school. If you want to do that, you may need some training and practice in supervising college students in this delicate craft. Putting a production on the stage is always a daunting task, no matter what level. So you may need experience in this skill as well.
