How does Mark Cuban make so much money?

He's one of the richest people in the world, what does this guy do to make so much money besides owning the Dallas Mavericks?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Mark Cuban grew up in a modest jewish community, his father an automobile upholsterer, and definitely wasn't very rich to begin with.
He worked first as a bartender in 1982, then computer salesman, but was fired from his sales job for meeting a client to create new business instead of opening a store.
With his time and the contacts he made from the sales job, he started a computer company which he sold for $6 million in 1990.
Not content with that money, he and a friend started Audionet, which became Broadcast.com, which made 13.5 million in the 2nd quarter of 1999.

What really made him his money was the internet boom, when Yahoo bought broadcast.com for almost $6 billion, afterwards he diversified his money to prevent against the upcoming internet crash. At that point he really didn't need any more money and was now doing things that focused more on his happiness, such as owning the Dallas Mavericks, working with Sirius Satellite Radio, ABC for a reality show called the Benefactor.

He sold his first company, Microsolutions, to CompuServe in 1990, earning about 2$ million after taxes for himself. In 1995 he and Todd Wagner started Audionet (later changed to Broadcast.com), which sold in 1999 to Yahoo for 5.9$ billion in stock.

Since then it appears he's invested his money in a variety of areas to keep it working for him.
