Previously, the general consensus is that Kia automobiles are not as good as Hyundai cars in terms of quality. In fact, Kia itself has been regarded as Hyundai’s poorer cousin for a long time in Korea. Previously, the divide between Hyundai and Kia could be seen among the social classes in Korea. The more well-off Koreans would typically purchase Hyundai cars, whereas the poorer Koreans would purchase Kia cars.
In terms of quality, Kia’s has increased tremendously over the years, more effort has been put in the design and construction of the cars. As such, the safety of the cars have increase as well as interior features. However, some models of the Kia (like the 2009 Optima) still pale in comparison to Hyundai cars as they are less sturdy.
Having said that though, it is difficult to compared between two makes of cars without taking into account the models. Of course, if you compare between two similar models, Hyundai will still definitely come out tops.
