Hello @servicos!
The University of Alberta has reported that hepatitis C virus that affects the liver could also affect the nervous system and do some damage on the brain cells. This discovery is very significant since this is the first time that scientists were able to prove that hepatitis C virus can affect mental health.
The lead author of the study Pornpum Vivithanaporn, who is also a post-doctoral fellow at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta commends on the new finding but stated that the question about the dmage to the brain was a bone of contention for quite a long time. The study done by Pornpun vivithanaporn was printed in the journal of Public Library of Science One Journal.
Mr. Vivithanaporn added further that hepatitis C virus could definitely lead to some complications in the neurological system.
Hepatitis C is known to infect about 170 million people all over the world where Canada's toll reached 300,000. This virus is know to cause damage to the liver as well as lead to cirrhosis.
