As opposed to Groupon, Gilt City is carving out a niche and not directly competing head-on. It's brand presence and level of funding will probably help it achieve success. Other aspects that differentiate Gilt City from Goupon is that some stores have more that one offering and the number of members who can participate is not forced to a minimum level.. Gilts offering change on a weekly basis and Goupon has a single deal per day offering.
If Gilt City doesn't expand too rapidly, I think that they have a good chance at success because of the different strategies that they are employing.

This keeps Gilt City's deals coveted, luxurious and defniitely exclusive.
They also have a capped quanity on like groupon bc these deals are limited.
