Porsche. A famous wag once said he had a Porsche 9114S but he sold it after he heard it plotting to kill him in the garage. The simple fact is Porsche have designed some of the greatest sports cars of the past seventy years. OK they did build the car that killed James Dean but they can be forgiven for this as Dean’s liking of drugs, booze and…er apples, along with his poor decision making when it came to turning in front of trucks, had much to do with his untimely demise. So Porsche can hardly be blamed for that. But to compare The Porsche with “other sports cars” is a very dangerous thing to do. What other cars compare to the 911? Ferrarri? Lamborghini? No that would be ridiculous. If we are talking real world competitors to the 911 we are talking the Mercedes SL, Maserati, Aston Martin, and possibly the Audi R8. A doctor would choose the Mercedes. A romantic would chose the Aston Martin, a member of triple A would chose the Maserati An area manager would chose the Audi. But anyone else with half a brain would go Porsche.
