You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

These are some things to keep in mind when pairing a necktie and shirt:
1. For white shirts, you can match any color tie with it. And this will also apply to very light pastel blue shirts.
2. These are some great color combination that work well:
A dark blue shirt will go well with red, light blue or orange tie
A light blue/aqua shirt goes well with brown, red, pink, orange, or green tie
Pink pastel shirt will fit pink, green, dark blue, or light blue tie
Green pastel shirt will match orange, blue, purple, red or pink tie
Red shirts matches green, purple, or light blue ties.
Here's a trick to know if the color will go well with your shirt is to find a tie that has the same color pattern of the tie-the other color on the tie will most likely to match. This is of course true unless you shop in a clown shop.
3. Another tip is to observe the patterns. A good patterned tie matches well with a solid colored shirt. As long as the color matches, you can mat any patterned tie with a solid shirt.
If you have patterned shirt with a patterned tie, make sure that the patterned are not the same like both stripes, both dots, both paisley.
You can only have one strong pattern because two bold patterns will likely crash.
Don't wear character ties unless you're 10 years old.
5. Be sure that the texture of the ties does not clash with that of the shirt. A rougher material would appear more casual while a silk tie is much more formal.
