How does a Neti Pot really work? What are the steps involved in properly using the Neti Pot?
Would Saline irrigation with a Neti Pot be something you would look into using to help with your seasonal allergies, sinus headaches, sinus congestion or any other type of sinus irritation?

I would definitely try the Neti Pot regimen. Seeing your question it reminded me to go and get one myself and my son who suffers from seasonal allergy, I want to try this method on my son so his symptoms especially nasal problems during the spring time (just started) will relieve him somehow. The problem is if he would accept and try to do it (you know kids, he's 12). So I ask around and read some articles about it. Even I've heard about it before this time I am determined to use it to help on my own headaches and sinus irritation. Nasal irrigation is I think a healthy way to rid of the everyday pollens, pollutions, irritants around us and cleanse the nasal passages of any germs or bacterias present that will make us sick.
Neti pots is somewhat scary at first to use, as other people says, but I find that I can handle this and have to try it listening to people swear by it (good feedbacks, I mean). This is the way to do it:
1. Fill the Neti pot with warm water (clean, of course).
2. Put a quarter teaspoon of uniodized salt or neti pot salt(sometimes included when buying a neti pot) and mix it.
3. Tilt your head on one side, and insert the neti pot spout to the opening of the raised nostril, creating a seal between the nostril and the pot. Relax. Breath through your mouth.
4. Gently pour the solution by tilting the neti pot upwards slowly and let the water go through the upper to the lower nostril.
5. When done, exhale several times and clear both passages.
6. Do the same process on the other nostril.
The neti pots usually comes with instructions to better illustrate how to use it. I have no doubt personally that this will work for me and my son with our nasal problems, so off I go, to get one. Hope this helps.
