How do you trust someone when the stories they tell don't seem to add up?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You don't. Most people are not very good at lying. Inconsistent stories reveal that lying is happening. If you want to reveal the truth of the stories, the following book should be useful:

Most people lie. It shortcuts conversations. If you think back over your day a person will find on average 3 or more lies they told themselves.

How often do we respond to "How are you?" with "Fine, thank you." even if you're not? Lies like that are socially acceptable, even considered polite conversation. Some people don't know where do draw the line.

When the stories don't add up and it's important I bring it up. If it's not important I allow distance between us to grow.

I cannot trust someone if his/her stories do not add up. I'll talk to him/her. I'll listen to him/her. But I'll not trust him/her.
