Under similar circumstances any country could find themselves where Germany found themselves.

The treatment of Germany at the end of World War I and continuing until WWII created circumstances where Hitler's rise to power and support by the people became possible.

First, Germany was allowed to keep all of her territory and not surrender. The German Army was LATER forced to reduce in size, but Germany was never forced to unconditional surrender because France and Britain did not think Germany would ever be a threat again. This led to a theory in Germany that their soldiers had not been defeated on the battle field, but had been sabotaged from the home front, known as the "stab in the back" theory. The Jews were the likely target.

Secondly, the Treaty of Versailles demanded that Germany take complete blame for the war and all damages. This treaty was used by France to actually send a bill to Germany for war damages. When Germany could not pay, France occupied Germany, causing an economic collapse where people lost their jobs, their, homes, and were left to starve in the streets. The German government took the path of appeasement, which turned out to be an error. As is often the case, economic and political collapse left a vacuum into which Hitller and the Nazi party were ready to move.

When parents saw their children starving in the streets, and saw their governemnet trying to appease the French occupational army without success, it is not so difficult to understand that they were ready for someone who could offer them some hope of relief form starvation.

The Jews were seen as the cause of Germany's defeat in WWI, which brought about the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles, and those who carried it out, brought about an economic collapse leading to starvation in the streets and ultimately to a willingness to rebell against the existing German government. Hitler was there with a message of hope at a time when the German people were literally dying in the streets with no hope. Hitler was uncessful at this time, but the groundwork was laid, and the final circumstance of the Great Depression was the last piece of the puzzle.

Although it took another six years after the French Occupation, during which time Hitler was imprisoned for treason and wrote 'Mein Kampf", the rise to power of Hitler and the Nazis was rooted in the treatment of the Germans after WWI.

Hitler had several abilities the first of them was he was a motivator. During his era he used the econimics of germany to push people into beleaving they needed change. He inspired the youth to help his agenda. He used fear to mobilize people into "volintold" their time to government causes. He used censurship to aviod from having bad press. He printed guidlines and enforced enhanced teaching for a better society. Economic hard times allowed him to present a future of change, one with social programs that gave equal coverage to all those who would listen, volinteer, donate, and choose those things that would benefit the "peoples government". All people in power in some way or another use many of these techniques. In smaller countries in south america it is currently happening. If a larger country like the former soviet union falls into econimic hardship its always possable for the right person to creat an environment for a need of change

Hitler appealed to an "Us vs them" mentality. He wanted Germany to think they had to take on the world.
