How do you, the big daddy you play as, come back to life after you're forced to cap yourself in the head in Bioshock 2?

You come back just outside of a Vita-Chamber, so presumably you were resurrected in the same way the player in the first Bioshock game came back after being killed. This amazing technology patched you up. The real mystery is why it's happening 10 years later, instead of immediately.
