How do you stop yourself from eating late a night, before bed?

There are a number of tricks I've found from researching forums and weight-loss research. Some are uber-simple and some are more, shall we say, specialized. Here they are:

1. Drink water, or some other low-calorie drink (warm skim milk or hot chamomile tea may also help with getting to sleep)
2. Keep healthy snacks such as carrots, rice crackers, etc. in a decorative bowl by the bed to make it more convenient to eat healthy late at night.
3. Use Crest WhiteStrips. (No seriously, I saw this one multiple times)
4. Keep your hands busy (knit, read, craft, draw). Idle hands find the food.
5. Chew gum
6. Make your dinner high in fiber and protein to ensure a slow-burn metabolic process for the evening.

One other thing I found that might be helpful from an execution standpoint is performing these things for 21 days. Apparently that is the standard time it takes to break a habit.

That is a habit.

You need to tell yourself you are not hungry, it is just a habit.
Remember this. The FIRST BITE is the only one you can possibly resist.
After you take the first bite, you are lost.

When you reach for that first bite, tell yourself "NO, I don't want you" and go do something else. You will find yourself back in the kitchen within ten minutes. Reread this paragraph.

I use a little of what some of us humans are born with called "self-control". Yeah I tell my mind that it's bad to eat late at night and then it doesn't do it, funny how that works.
