How do you stop the tongue of your high-tops from sliding down the side of your foot?

It's killing me... every pair of high tops or mids I've ever worn, the tongue always gets wedged between the side of my foot and the side of the sneaker.

Anyone have any fixes?

VSA: Pull up the tongue, lace your shoes the right way and all the way up, then tie them at the top.

This is a process I use to help achieve the same goal.

It's to the point and addresses the issue without a snarky comment.

I protest...

If the tongue doesn't have the slit meant for the laces to thread through, then you can always cut one yourself.

I used to have this happen to my old school adidas stan smith's all the time. I remedied the situation by cutting two small slits in the tongue with a box cutter knife. I then weaved my laces through the tongue using the slits. It seemed to keep the tongue in place. Most shoes come with that option built in these days! Good luck.

That's kinda just the way it goes, unless you have a tongue with a loop in the middle. The loop attempts to hold the tongue in place by virtue of sliding the laces through it. Doesn't always work well, and depends on which shoes have implemented it best. I have a pair of Adidas that work very well; tongue never slips--only slightly moves to the outside of the shoe by 1/4 inch. The loop seems to keep it in place.
