Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Go to a meeting of Narcotics Anonymous and put your hand up. Click Here to find one.
Then say "I have a problem with crack cocaine and I need help in stopping"
Then after anyone replies to you, ask if anyone would be your temporary sponsor, sit with that person and talk to that person after the meeting, get their phone number.
Then stay the entirety of the meeting just listening no matter how uncomfortable it gets.
Then get a NA meeting list of locations and times go to as many as you can and just listen.

The next step is hard. You have to stop smoking crack cocaine.

Pointers for making stopping the cycle of addiction easier?
- Remove ALL things drug related from your home, vehicle, workplace, etc. everywhere. Do an HONEST inventory of your home and hiding places. Throw everything out, down the toilet, or wherever you can that will insure you cannot get back to retrieve it. DO NOT lie to yourself and say .. "Well I just keep this or that" You will without a doubt go back to smoking crack if you do not complete this step honestly.

- Do NOT call, see, hang out with, talk to, think about, or contact in any way shape or form ANY (including family and best friends) ANY of the people you have used crack with, purchased crack from, talked about the good crack times with.. any of them. Be ready to really drop every one of these people if you are serious about stopping as every one of them will be a determent to your sobriety. Seriously this is a must do and the sacrifices you make will save your life.. you come first. Seriously everyone.

- You have to want to stop. Addiction is an elevator ride down and YOU decide when the bottom is because if you do not the bottom will be decided for you as jail, institution, or death. You CAN push the OFF button at any floor and get out. Call that spot your bottom. You will stop one way or another, better you decide on when you stop then let the crack decide which I guarantee you will not like. Jail, Institution, or Death. ... or you decide to push the off button now.

- Acceptance is key, this will not be easy. Hard does NOT equal impossible and YES you CAN do it. Your road out will be difficult and hold on to that seat at the meeting for dear life because you are in for the ride of you sober life. Again difficult or hard does not equal impossible. This can be done one single second at a time.

- Congratulate yourself for every fractional moment you are not high. Do not celebrate this just congratulate yourself. Every second you are not high is a second you are closer to being really sober.

- You will NEVER graduate from addiction. Addiction is a progressive disease. Every moment you are sober the addiction is doing push ups in your mind, body, and spirit just waiting to catch you at a weak moment and trust me this monster of addiction gets bigger and badder by the day and wants to really kill you. It will if you let it.

-- You must accept that you will be unhappy .. but not always unhappy.
-- Life is not easy but it can be lived drug free and sober.

If any of this sounds harsh I do not mean to scare you but you have indicated you are not able to stop on your own. You need the help of others. The folks at the NA meeting will help you out there and if you honestly commit to take their help and really want to stop you can. It will not be easy.

You only have to avoid that first hit... that's it.
You might be powerless over crack cocaine but you are not powerless over you hands and feet, use your hands and feet to pick up the phone and get to a meeting.

You CAN do this. Believe that with all of you.

Are you in recovery? You seem to have alot of valuble information on what I need to do to get clean . The problem for me is'nt stopping its staying stopped. Sometimes I feel like I
do it to myself on purpose and I cant understand why. I dont do it when things are terrible or my life is a mess, I do it when things couldnt be better. I'm back in school with a 4.0 grade average, I have my own apt., I have a vehicle, like I said there was money saved, then I just didnt want to do it anymore I just got tierd I just startedv feeling like all this work all the stress noone to help me with anything I was and am very overwhelmed! So I hope once I am able to fall asleep I can wake up and start over and pray that the damage isnt irreversable.

To pile on the second point buddawiggi makes...it took a family acquaintance divorcing her husband and moving so that the "friends" would stop dropping by to share or score from her life. Flee from it, because your life depends on it. God bless you, and give you the strength to beat this nightmare.

You fall back to it because of a trigger in your life. If you can't figure out what the trigger is then time with a therapist would be helpful. If your able to stop for long periods of time it shows you don't have a physical addiction but a mental one. Find out what sets you off to take that first hit and when the trigger comes do something else to change your behavior. If it is people in your life that gets it going then you need to disassociate yourself from them, especially if you have a baby. Stop now before a physical addiction becomes prevalent. You don't want to have to decide between crack or food for your baby. The Narc meetings will only get you around of other addicts and opportunities to grt high and only work if you are ready to stop. So, bottom line, you need to find your trigger.

Be VERY careful about going to Narcotics Anon. Many people use it as a place to deal/ score.

Bill W. (one of the founders of AA) was a big proponent of LSD as a way to avoid alcohol. Would probably work for other drugs too.

Rehab probably won't cure you, but the insights you gain from being in a long stay program will help you.

Get away from your old doping buddies, preferably a new town with a support system already in place--like somewhere with sober family, friends already living there. The smaller the town the better.

I know life can be rough sometimes but if you dont stop its gonns get alot rougher! I know youve said youve picked up but thats okay you most likely wont stop now but eventually you will have to fall asleep wether you like it or not then and only then do you have the power to stop because once you put it down you dont have to pick it back up again.
