How do you speed up a wireless internet connection?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1705 with a Linksys Wireless WRT54G router.  I got the infamous facebook virus a few months ago and was able to clean it up (I think) but since then my connection has been slow.  Browsing is ok, but downloading an album on iTunes takes over an hour.  Previously it took 10-15 minutes.  Any ideas what to look for, and how to fix it?
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Per Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesstips.mspx

-Position your wireless router (or wireless access point) in a central location.

-Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects (such as metal file cabinets).

-Replace your router's antenna.

-Replace your computer's wireless network adapter.

-Add a wireless repeater.

-Change your wireless channel.

-Reduce wireless interference.

-Update your firmware or your network adapter driver.

-Pick equipment from a single vendor.

-Upgrade 802.11b devices to 802.11g.

hi,
i think u cannot actually increase the tangible internet speed u get, no matter what software u use, it wont increase ur speed. try checking the internet speed http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/ before and after
