You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

To make the perfect sushi rice, the water level has to be watched closely. If too little water is used, the rice will not be light and fluffy. If too much is used, the rice will be too sticky. It may be easier for you to use a rice cooker. Just follow the instructions that come with the cooker.

2 cups of uncooked glutinous white rice (sushi rice)
3 cups of water
1/2 cup of rice vinegar
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1/4 cup of white sugar
1 teaspoon of salt

1. Rinse the rice 2 or 3 times or until the water comes out clear.
2. Add water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
3. Add rice and lower the temperature to low. Cook covered for 20 minutes. Add more water if needed.
4. All of the water should be absorbed.
5. Rice can be eaten plain or it can be mixed with a dressing.
6. Add rice vinegar, vegetable oil, sugar, and salt to a small saucepan. Heat until sugar has dissolved.
7. When the rice has cooled, pour mixture onto the rice and mix. Keep stirring until the rice becomes dry.
