how do you make fresh pasta?

It's actually fairly simple: mix 1/2 tsp salt into 2 cups of flour. Knead in 3 eggs until you have a smooth dough. Roll out to the desired thickness and cut into appropriate shapes.
It's an extremely stiff dough, and it's easier to knead with a stand mixer. (The heavy duty Kitchenaid kind.) Rolling it out with a rolling pin is possible, but you get much thinner sheets and better results with a pasta maker. Manual ones run around $60 or so. They can also help you cut it into even strips for spaghetti or linguini, but they can also make flat sheets for ravioli or tortellini.
