How do you knead a pizza dough properly?

How do I know if I kneadedthe dough enough? Is kneading dough for pizza and for bread done differently?

Hello mmng23,

When kneading pizza dough it is helpful to have a measuring cup with flour handy. It is used to dust flour onto the dough and your hand to keep it from sticking to the dough during the kneading process. The kneading process of pizza dough is the same as that for bread dough and you can get a video on how to knead http://www.ehow.com/video_2340386_knead-pizza-dough.html it as this link. Another good link with information on how to knead pizza dough is here http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-knead-and-form-pizza-dough-with-bon-appetit-magazine-223963/.

If you prefer to have an illustrated guide at hand then try this link which has one http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Make-Pizza-tutorial.htm. Since the process of kneading pizza and bread dough are the same you use the kneading guide which is linked to from this page http://www.jansdough.com/Sourdough_Bread/kneadbreaddough.htm.
One important point to remember when kneading pizza dough is that you should not dust too much flour during the kneading process, as this result in the dough becoming very dry. You can test if the dough is done by pressing into it with your knuckles and seeing if the indentation formed fills in. If it does fill in the dough is done.
