How do you handle system outages?
I guess we need a plan of attack. We do most of our business through the internet. I would like specific directions for my staff for when we have system outages. What is the very best way to handle system outages? What type of plan she we have in effect?

Having a SO or system outage protocol is definitely a good thing. This is true for more reasons than one. When you work in an environment of employees who have access to the system, there are bound to be multiple communications and questions in the event of a system outage. Not only does this bog down the system, it also distracts the engineers who are tasked with fixing it, with numerous correspondence.
Identify a department or individual who is the go to person in the event of a system outage. They will be able to determine the cause of the outage, eliminate speculation, and the appropriate individuals on the job. They will also provide guidance on accessing the backup system in order for work to continue as smoothly as possible.
