If you need to ask, then I presume you are not very good at it.....yet. But hackers do get into the news, like Adrian Lamo, the homeless hacker or Jonathan James the first juvenile convicted of a cybercrime, or Kevin Mitnick of FaceBook fame.
Hackers do it for the thrill, the power trip, and the intellectual challenge. You need to know computer languages, and enjoy spending a lot of time in front of the computer. Depends on what you want to hack. The quickest way is to talk to some computer geek who is already doing it to get inside knowledge.
