How do you get the smell out of a nalgene bottle?
We have new nalgene refillable bottles that we bought for a day hike about three weeks ago. We came home, and all we used it for was water and we rinsed them out and let them dry.
I was going to take one to work with me and when i opened the lid it smelled like stinky sneakers.
Is there a way to get that stinky sneaker smell out. I think its just coming form the spill guard which is a different plastic, But I woudl liek to treat all of teh beottles anyway.

1. Fill the nalgene bottle with warm water. Add a tsp of dish detergent and close the lid. Shake the bottle to mix the detergent with the water.
2. Open the lid. Use a clean bottle brush to brush clean the inside of the bottle.
3. Pour out the soapy water. Rinse the bottle with warm, clean water.
4. Place 2 heaping tsp. of baking soda in the bottle. Fill the bottle completely and replace the lid. Allow the baking soda and water to sit in the bottle for 30 minutes.
5. Pour out the baking soda and water. Rinse the bottle well, then dry with a clean towel. Clean the lid with a wet, soapy cloth. Place the bottle (with the lid open) in the dish drainer to complete drying.
