how do you get service dog certification for public transportation
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

At a minimum your dog will need to be able to pass the public access requirements as listed here: http://www.iaadp.org/iaadp-minimum-training-standards-for-public-access.html.
Please beware of organizations promising to send you badges and certifications simply for a fee. Nothing is a substitute for proper training and official certification.

You'll probably need to get a service animal license with your local city or county to let the dog onto public transportation such as trains and busses.
Various organizations help:

Certification is NOT required by Federal Law. The ADA states that the dog must do tasks or work to assist its disabled handler/owner. To make access easier, some states and counties have tags or IDs for Service Dogs. These are NOT required by the ADA.
Oops - I mentioned the Doberman breed above - I meant to refer to your dog (as noted in the topic or question category) as a Rottweiler, sorry.
There is no federal certification for a SD. If you are trying to take your SD out, it should be able to pass a basic public access test (there are many examples out there). Some bus companies do offer a special license for a SD, however under federal and most state laws, it is NOT required.
