How do you get a Christmas tree topper to stay on an artificial tree?

We have a balsam hills norway spruce Christmas tree, and it doesn't seem to have any one major stem at the top of the tree, and our two different star Christmas tree toppers don't seem to stay on top there. They bend over sideways and just don't seem as sturdy as a real tree. How does everyone else get the tree topper to stay on their artificial tree?

First, try using some supporting branches. Our tree topper is a giant snowman head (hey, it's funny!) that is very heavy, so we bend up a few of the top branches to help anchor the snowman head in place.

Second, treat your artificial tree just like any other craft project involving bending and sculpting wires. Sometimes you have to play with the wire a bit to get your stars standing up straight.

Third, if wiggling and additional branch support don't work, stick it! Use a small wooden dowel rod or yard stick (painted green, if you like), and attach it to the top of the main tree pole toward the back. Use that as an anchor for the main branch--or acting as the main branch. With many tree toppers and angels, this stick will be totally disguised and never seen. Stars are tougher.

Fourth idea: PERMANENTLY attach it! That's right, get out the hot glue gun and some extra support wire! You'll never use your star or angel for another purpose, so why not affix it right to the tree in a sturdy fashion?

Merry Christmas!

Honestly, I know this sounds funny, but after a loooong battle with my beautiful frosted star topper, I finally just used my imagination.... I strung my star from a long line of fishing line and basically "hovered" it over my tree and strategically placed it infront of the top branch that is SUPPOSED to handle the topper. It's actually pretty cute, 'cause it's esentially "floating" and you can't see the fishing line at all. I tack the line on the cieling. After doing this, I started playing with the fishing line and some ornament balls and creatively strung a bunch of the balls from the line from my ceiling in random placing so that it looked like the ornaments were falling from the sky down to my tree!! Try it!! It'll get your creative juices flowing for sure!!

I am having the same problem... I used twist ties to get mine to stay... but it does look a little off from a real tree.
