How do you find Mahalo Answers? Interesting? Addicting?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I just answered this question!! (Is this an intervention?)

I'm not addicted. Unless your definition of addicted is being on Mahalo Answers until you collapse out of exhaustion, refusing to eat unless it's in front of the computer, and managing to beat the CEO in points because you're on the system so much (and you don't work for Mahalo).

I find it both interesting and addicting.
I think it's interesting that people are willing to pay money to have people answer questions (which, in most cases, are not hard questions to answer with a little internet research: and really, you'd think that people on this site would be somewhat web-savvy).

I think it's addicting because there are always questions that I feel like I have an answer to! And it's really fun to see how the answers vary.

Lots of fun, and an opportunity to make a little cash if you're addicted enough, haha.

More addicting than interesting. Q&A will get interesting when more users join and questions get harder and more specific. Which means that it'll get MORE addicting. More? More? I slept awfully and barely eat since I joined the site some 48 hours ago.

P. S. By "interesting" I mean really challenging questions, the ones that are worth a visit to the library, stuff you can't find by just doing a Google search. This site is indeed very interesting.

I wasn't a masochist BEFORE! I have my own personal and decent library, but still go to public ones, despite the fact that they are not within a walking distance from my house.
Which also reminds me of lunch. I swear I'll eat something after I look for a few more questions.

Wait! I'm hunting for questions. Can't think of anything else... Please, ask again when the line isn't busy.

There are a few interesting questions but you have to hunt for them. the Janice Joplin question is pretty good (and not just because I answered it).

You're a bit of a masochist...but I like the way you think. I work within walking distance of a stellar library, so I definitely have the resources to look for tough stuff on lunch.

When should we plan Mahalo Answerholics Anonymous meetings?

pescina's Avatar

Sure thing! But I want HARDER questions that'll come after the beta testing.

We are going to add a voting tool for questions that says "Interesting Question? Yes No" just like the "Helpful Answer Yes No" button.

This will help surface the best stuff.

We're going to keep voting on questions as a feature for "upper belts" eventually (i.e. everyone to start, but Purple or above later).

That should REALLY help.

i hope is becomesmore active-I have used other answer boards that are very active--but there are a lot of idiotic questions and answers--like people asking a question just to make otehrs mad (such as can I give my retard kid up for adoption to a pair of pediphiles...so far I haven't seen this here.

I found this through a news article about the tips--and honestly--that is the only reason I joined---I desperately need the money after being robbed of thousands of dollars in disabiity discrimination and ignored by the governemnt

Surprisingly very addicting. I hope the quantity and quality of questions will increase to keep the interest up and people involved. Which will in-turn make the site more addictive.

Sorry, but you're a bit wrong. Being addicted to Mahalo Answers could also lead to death: http://www.reuters.com/article/internetNews/idUST16999720070917

Ha ha. Sorry. I was trying to refute your answer, but that was before I knew about the option. People actually die from exhaustion by being too much time on the Internet, as I stated in my comment. It could happen with a very addictive site (haven't eaten yet, by the way).

I'm finding it a very addictive experience. I love the almost immediate and good quality answers that the site is providing, and the opportunity to engage with people around a particular topic. I find myself wanting to check it all the time. I've definitely learnt a few things aswell. All in all, a great site. Will be interesting to see what happens when traffic increases a lot.

I'm going to say interesting. But if I keep going at this pace into next year, I'll have to say addicting. Not quite WoW addicting, because I can pop in for a few moments and leave.

I'm completely addicted. I joined 3 days ago and haven't stopped since. I was one of the first people to answer so many questions that the system actually wouldn't let me answer any more. I had filled my quota for the day.

Ouch. I need a life, or just to work more.

I'm unemployed, so I got here for the money. Now money seems to be less relevant than the compulsive search for questions... And mankind has always been looking for answers... Ironic!

You know, with Mahalo Dollars, there's the potential to make money on the site...so perhaps someday working more and surfing Answers may be the same thing!

Carrie,

You make a good point, but I make a lot more money doing real work, and I'm not really here for the money, just for the fun. I love answering questions, even if my answer is clearly not the best one.

I think it's both addicting and interesting. The points system is very "game" esque, where you get points for doing certain behaviors. (Yes, I'm comparing myself to a hamster with a food bar.)

The interesting stuff is to see what kinds of questions are asked and what questions get the best/most responses.

A lot of "fun" questions right now, a ton of "general" questions that could probably be answered with a quick trip to Wikipedia. Not that there's anything wrong with those--part of Mahalo Answers is to save people time--so if they want to post rather than looking it up, I'm personally fine with that.

What will be really cool is to see how the deeper/more obscure questions will do. Not a lot of those have been asked yet, and they tend to be the ones that don't get answered right away.

Those are the kind of questions I live for. I may not know the answer, but my skillset is broad enough that I can give it the old college try. I also have another trick up my sleeve: Google Fu.

I think it is way more interesting than blogs- granted its similar but the idea of making a few bucks by providing some useful knowledge is appealing and the fact you can kind of keep score and add other content to support the answers is really neat.

Addicting. It has weaned me out of twitter. I like that even if you're not a popular web entity, you get answers/replies from different people in an instant. In twitter, you ask a question and if you don't have a lot of followers (cause you're not popular), you don't get an answer. It even is hard to pick the 'best' answer. I wish there's a ranking of the top 3 picks with corresponding points.

I just answered this question too: http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/did-you-notice-we-have-a-new-point-leader

Mahalo (in my opinion) has endless possibilities and has a great team of people behind the wheel. Both, development and end user.

Thanks to everyone!!!
