How do you find current bankruptcies online?

I'm trying to find out if one of my clients has filed for bankruptcy. Does anyone know of a way to do this that is free?
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Bankruptcy records are public information and can be found by a number of means. The best way is to contact the local/federal bankruptcy court that would be handling the claim.

Heres a website with some resources that should help. It has listings of phone numbers where you can get automated records of filings and also listings of bankruptcy courts. You should be able to find what youre looking for.
