I think its a little ridiculous over zealous view of Italian people in general.
Italians usually don't strive to be more italian, they diversify.
Take the punch of Nicole Snooki Polizzi for instance, no normal rational italian would do something like this.
They would simply leave. And be done with it.

MTV seems to be preying much more on ignorance then ever.
