how do you escape form the endless going around in circles in leave well alone? Is there a hidden door or something that i have missed
went back to the start of the level in case i missed something but missed not a thing just kept going around in circles

I think if you can refer the guides below, you can get a clear idea on how to complete the mission you are referring.
I cannot explain you on completing that mission, because there is no mission like "Leave Well Alone".

Sorry if I came off as rude. With the newly added comment, I switched my unhelpful to helpful.
I'm pretty sure in the tags it reads "Halo Combat Evolved" And "Leave Well Alone" in reference to the level within the game. Even though there isnt a level called "Leave Well Alone."
