How do you Connect to the Mahalo IRC Chat?

I'm going to spend some time today to re-do the Mahalo IRC Chat page - in order to build it into a definitive guide on how to join Mahalo's IRC chat I need to learn alternative ways to connecting, since I've been using pidgin to connect flawlessly for the last 2.5 years I admit, I've been pretty ignorant to the alternatives, please share with me how you connect.
Tip for best answer: M$2.15
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

As you already know jeff I am a heavy pro-proponent of Trillian Astra.

I won't get to in depth with my answer, I don't want to seem like I am a cheerleader for ceruleanstudios.
However just recently they crushed a serious IRC bug and the latest Lab
Build ( 4.1 Build 19 ) .

Combined with the Avion Pro or Avion Chrome skin, its communication heaven.

Here's a overview picture of Trillian Astra running Avion 1.2.

http://stargazerstechblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/avion_pro_v1_0_by_insomnautik.jpg

This all combined with the Trilly Tunes and Aspell plugin is all I have been using as of late to connect to IRC.

Here is an old tutorial of Trillian Pro (The original version of Trillian) on IRC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHrh9DS86aY

And one last video tutorial of a user explaining the features and uses of ASTRA.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzcvOZpdohs

Ever since Freenode has blocked the IRC Web Gateway we all know and love ( Mibbit ) , I have gone back to using Trillian full time.
Mibbit also has added a great number of features such as _but not limited to_ .

*SSL Connections
*A WAP Mobile Portal
*A iPhone and Nintendo Wii Portal
*Pastebin and translation support
&
*Unicode support.

I have been in recent negotiation with Axod (Jimmy Moore) , Mibbit's creator and Proprietor. James will be opening the doors soon for enterprise accounts that will use a different system to connect to Freenode, Quakenet and other opponents of WebIRC.

.................Until that happens its "bottled water for me."

Kind Regards,
@XDS

I use firefox chatzilla... which is way too easy to use.

-Open firefox window
-Go tools>Chatzilla
-When window opens click "freenode"
-Once connected type /join Mahalo

Epically short answer. lol

I also use Firefox Chatzilla. It is a bit tedious the first time you connect, but after that, if you select the option to "open this network at startup", it will open automatically after the initial set-up.

I also use Chatzilla with FireFox. It was a little tricky to setup, but once it is installed it is very easy to use.

Chatzilla also looks very lovely with the NASA or NASA Nightlaunch skin.
The main skin is a little dark however.

Just ashame I can't separate the two =P Chatzilla's got my vote.

I connect using Chatzilla as an add-on to Firefox. I use a portable version of Firefox, because I'm currently relying on public computers at the university, local libraries and internet cafes to get my work done.

Everything works fine. It is a bit cryptic, but I grew up on ascii terminals, so everything old is new again.

All my http://portableapps.com/ applications are installed on a Western Digital Passport portable USB drive. This drive runs really fast when compared to a flash drive.

FYI - My other favorite portable app that I use with Mahalo is Notepad++. I edit all of my Mahalo pages off-line and then cut and paste into Mahalo.

I'm a Mac user, and I use the free program Colloquy. It works pretty good, I really have no complaints with it.

Chatzilla is probably one of the most popular IRC clients out there, which is an add-on for Firefox.

Download Firefox: http://www.firefox.com
Download ChatZilla: http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com
