How do you clean the tarnish from a silver plated pitcher?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You can get a product to polish silver from most grocery and department stores. It's a liquid about the consistency of hand lotion. You rub it into the silver and then rinse away and dry the silver off. There are also liquid dips but don't use them on valuable items because they are hard on the silver.
If the tarnish is heavy, you may need to take it to a professional (usually a jeweler can do this) to have it buffed off with a polishing wheel.
Toothpaste will also remove tarnish from silver but don't use this method if the piece is valuable because the chemicals in the toothpaste can damage the silver over time.
