How do you clean a new rock wall?

I just finished building a new river rock wall. It's built with morter. When the wall is hosed down and wet it looks nice and clean, but when it drys it has a residue from the mortor. Any ideas as to make the residue go away?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A good stiff brush and muriatic acid. You can buy it in black plastic jugs at any Home Depot. You just have to dip the brush in it an scrub away. Remember to wear safety glasses and rubber gloves.
