how do you become a music manager

Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Step 1: Meet a band or musician.
Step 2: Help them get what they want & need.
Step 3: Take a % of what they make.

Most top bands have a manager and an agent.

The manager is more of the day to day business and operations person. Their job is to make sure that the band is getting what they need and are where they need to be. As well as the strategic planning and crafting the brand and image.

The Agent's job is to book gigs and cut deals and the manager is there it execute the deal.

There are a lot of managers who do double duty as the agent also.

Getting into the business usually starts one of two ways. You know a band and they need help and you are there or you work for a record label and get assigned to do it.
