How do you avoid those audio/video components cluttering your living room?

Being tired of the clutter of all those different designs, cables, etc. I've put most of my hifi gear behind frosted glass as shown here: http://www.cleverandeasy.com/Home-Organizing/hide-your-hi-fi-installation-out-of-sight.html

Still, I have some other stuff next to the TV about 10 ft away and can't install another cabinet with sanded glass there.

Does anybody else have good tips to hide things such as a set-top box, a DVD player etc.?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

We have all of our components in a cabinet that is well ventilated. Our cabinet was built-in when we built our house but a separate cabinet would work.

I agree with infobulbdotcom about consolidation. Our setup includes:
- an AV receiver
- a satellite receiver
- AppleTV (we ripped all our CDs and DVDs so we can play them here. We too had a multi-CD player as you have and found it just took too much space)
- Xbox 360 (we use this for games and rented DVD playing)
- Wii (you can buy a remote sensor bar)

We use Logitech's Harmony 890 remote to control everything because it doesn't require line-of-sight.

get rid of some of the stuff and which you can't, try to consolidate...like a DVD+stereo player (all in one) solution.

Try to sort those electrical wirings at the back of your component. If some of them are not in use, you can store it somewhere. If you have set top box, you can place in under your TV table. In that way, you can still control the box without having to worry with other devices. Make sure all the wirings are in proper place to prevent further problems. Electrical equipments like this should be handled carefully.
