How do you avoid burnout on the job?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Look forward and never back. What's the next thing coming up. Also as stated above love what you do. People would be surprised how money would come to them if they loved what they did as hard work in the start-up process would be something to enjoy-as you watch your business grow it energizes you.

The best way to prevent burnout is to stop thinking “job” once your time at work is over. Once you leave work to return home, stop thinking about any challenges or other difficulties you will be facing the next day or during the upcoming week(s). Leave work at work and readjust your focus. Concentrate only on what will be awaiting you at home or plan enjoyable and relaxing after work activities for yourself. If you need to kick it up a notch, schedule some workout time or take part in a dance or karate class to let off some steam after a particularly stressful day at work. Spend quality time with your family, read or play with your kids, go out to dinner, and go everything to get your mind off your tasks at work. Sure work is important, especially in today’s questionable economy. However, I should not and cannot rule your entire life.

While I admit this isn't a universally applicable strategy, I avoid burnout by loving what I do. When it's what you'd do anyway, even if it wasn't your job, things get a whole lot easier. Beyond that, I really like what dtvrivera is saying about not thinking "job" once your working hours are over. However, in practice, I always fail when I try to put work out of my mind.
