How do we maximize the value of a Mahalo page?
Does Mahalo (or any media specialist) know what people come here for? For example, I manage some pages about athletes. At the top of the page, should there be news stories? Background/biographical info? Awards? Pictures and video?
I feel like we're kind of flying blind here. I'm not a professional web designer so I don't know what people want when they go to these pages. Can somebody give some guidance? In-depth clickthru stats from Mahalo would be great, but if anybody who does this for a profession knows this sort of thing, that would be welcome as well.
Oh, and if there's a way to turn off some of the Google ads, that would be fantastic as well. Not that I want to prevent people from clicking on ads, but having four sets of Google ads with three informational sections makes it look like a spam page, which is the last thing anybody wants.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

People come here for:
1. How to (fill in the blank) they search other search engines, etc. Basically the long tail, How To Become A Billionaire and How to Get Into an Ivy League School are a couple of my pages for example, and they get some action.
2. Keywords (ie. they enter a celebrity name like LeBron James, or something)
Athlete pages:
Include key facts on the athlete, a short bio, awards and achievements, as well as links that are relevant to them. Not all news stories are important, but you may want to cover these in the facts. You should include pictures and videos that are important to this athlete.
You do not need to know web design. Check out my LeBron James page and you'll see the pertinent info on him. Use this as a guide.
To get traction on your pages, you might want to email it to a few friends who you think are interested in it. You can certainly plug it on Twitter as well.
Turning off Google Ads:
I don't believe this is available just yet. This is how Mahalo monetizes these pages. You might want to email feedback@mahalo.com or contact@mahalo.com for this suggestion.
Best of luck @dcanswerer

It's not that we want to remove all the ads, we know Mahalo needs to make some money, but some pages have 7 or 8 ad units on them someone added (probably by accident) and now they're stuck.
