How do the twelve divisions of the plane of the ecliptic fit into Astrology?
I have been hearing the term ‘plane of the ecliptic’ quite frequently as of late and how the ‘twelve divisions’ this and that. I however have no idea what this means and am not only curious on the meaning of this ‘phrase’ but also curious as to how it fits into Astrology. Does it have anything to do with a specific spirituality aspect of Astrology? Or maybe The Zodiac? Or maybe these ‘angles’ I also keep hearing about? Does it have to do with star alignment or earthly matters? I am completely lost with this one, so any and all explanation, sources, or even personal knowledge would be MUCH appreciated!

The Earth rotates around the Sun on a plane. The path of the Earth on this plane is an eclipse, not a circle, hence the term "plane of the ecliptic."
As the Earth travels its orbit, the Sun rises and sets in different constellations, depending on the location of the orbit and time of year. The constellation in which it sets determines your "sign" when you were born.
