How do the iPhone 3G and Samsung SGH F480 compare?

I recently seen an advertisement for the Samsung SGH F480 and I my first thought was... "Wow, that looks very much like an iPhone 3G". I normally don't go for Apple products too much. In the past, all of my mp3 players and cell phones have been Samsung for the most part. My sister has an iPhone and I loved some of the features, but now I am intrigued by this Samsung SGH F480. How do the two compare?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I found a comparison between iPhone 3G and Samsung SGH F480 at reviewgist.com.
So far in overall score Samsung SGH scored 70% while iPhone 3G got 83%.

These are the comparisons between the two:
1. When it comes to interface Samsung got a below average rating while iPhone 3G got an above average.
2. In terms of connectivity, Samsung is neutral while iPhone got a "good" rating.
3. Samsung has ""neutral" rating in audio while iPhone got an "average rating.
4. In performance Samsung got "higher than neutral" while iPhone got an "average rating".
5. Multimedia for Samsung is still "neutral" while iPhone got an "average
6. And when it comes to battery, Samsung got a "neutral" rating while iPhone got an average rating.

Conclusion: For overall performance, it is apparent that iPhone 3G is better compared to its Samsung SGH counterpart. Althought Samsung is not that bad and got a rating of 70% compared to iPhone 3G's 83%.

These are some comparison of features:

1. Samsung weighs 3.54 oz; iPhone 4.8 oz
2. Samsung has bluetooth wireless capabilities while iPhone has WLAN 802.11b, WLAN 802.11g bluetooth.
3. Talk time for Samsung is 3 hrs while iPhone has 12 hours.
4. Samsung has higher camera megapixels at 5 while iPhone has 3.0 megapixels
5. Standby time for Samsung is 250 hours while iPhone has 300 hours.

I am also primarily a Samsung cell phone user myself. I just renewed my contract with Sprint and I ordered a new LG touch phone. I absolutely hated it. The touch feature was horrible and I ended up sending it back and I got a Samsung Exclaim and I love it. Anyway, back to the subject.

After doing some reviewing, I found a lot of similarities and also differences between the Samsung SGH F480 and the Apple iPhone.

1. The Samsung’s display resolution is 240x320px and the iPhone is 320x480px

2. The display color is 256K on the Samsung and 16M on the iPhone.

3. Of course they both have touch screen technology

4. The talk time with the Samsung is 3 hours and with the iPhone it’s 10 hours

5. The camera resolution on the Samsung is 5 Megapix and on the iPhone it’s 2 Megapix

6. They both have usb and utilize Bluetooth

7. The iPhone has an audio and TV output and the Samsung does not

8. The dimensions of the Samsung is 3.76" x 2.17" x 0.45" and the iPhone is 4.55" x 2.44" x 0.48"

9. The ballpark estimate of the Samsung is 196.30 to 240.90 US$ and the iPhone is 725.60 to 890.40 US$- This is unbelievable to me since the new iPhone 4 is said to be around $199. But that is what the site says.

This should help you compare the two. To me, it sounds like the Samsung is a much better deal but to each his own. lol
