How do I use a Bluetooth keyboard with the iPad?

A friend of mine just bought an iPad and a Bluetooth keyboard to use with it. She said she heard that the iPad is compatible with any Bluetooth keyboard but has no idea of how to link the two together. Can anyone help out here please? Thank you

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Doing this is quite simple. It can be done in two ways – by the skilled persons of the iPhone Dev Team, or by an engineer / expert outside of Apple. Involving other expert than the iPhone Dev Team will void your warranty and could done wrong actually destroy your device. So, it is wise to contact the skilled personnel of the Apple iPhone Dev Team.

It is known that the iPad is actually equipped fully to connect with Bluetooth devices like keyboard and mouse. Apple even sells a “dock” by which you can attach a keyboard to the ipad, thus transforming it into something like a laptop computer. But with some Bluetooth devices, the process may not be straightforward and may require a process called “jailbreaking”. A recently released Spirit jailbreak by the skilled person of the iPhone Dev Team can do the job for you. (Without jailbreaking all keyboard may not always work because of the disabled Bluetooth to tune on mouse.)

Here is a video that may guide you how to install a mouse to use with your iPad. Still, I think it will be of no less help to install a keyboard with your iPad.

Utilizing a Bluetooth keyboard together with the Apple iPad is relatively very easy and takes just a very few and easy steps. One thing you must ascertain is that the keyboard you are using must conform with Human Interface Device Profile, which means it functions the same as what we often call a universal Bluetooth keyboard.

The first thing you have to do is to let the keyboard in a state of pairing, by going to Settings -> General -> Bluetooth on the iPad, after which you knock-off keyboard's entry, until then your iPad prompts you the pairing code, which are then entered to your keyboard. After completing these steps, you are now ready for your usual activities. Just do away with the iPad screen keyboard, that appears at the iPad and get used to the Bluetooth keyboard.
