How do I uninstall (remove) the factory stereo from my 2001 Chevy Silverado. I am specifically looking for step-by-step instructions.

Not to difficult.
You need to remove the trim plate that goes all around the left side of dash by the headlight switch, to the other end by the radio.
Tilt the steering wheel all the way down, get your fingers between the top of the dash and that large trim plate and pull the plate out while working around it. Some of the clips that hold it on may be tight so be carefull not breake the trim. Look at the underside of the trim panel to make sure there are not 2 screws going up. They would be located in the center of the dash gauge cluster. If they are there, remove them first.
The use a 7mm socket to remove 4 radio screws.
Pull radio out far enough toe remove the electrical connectors on the back.
