List anything you want to sell by writing an ad that gives as much information about the item that you can think of. Be honest about the condition of the item, if it needs work or is badly worn let people know. Give your email address or phone number, do not give your address unless you are advertising a garage or yard sale.

These are some steps to follow if you want to start making money with craiglist:

1. You have to sell feature items in the right category so that search engines and people who are viewing the listing see them when they are categorized right.
2. Write headlines that catches attention and stand apart from competitors like using eye-catching words. You can also put a price for immediate clicks.
3. Add pictures so that your listing will be noticed.
4. Respond to buyers immediately and follow up quickly so that you can close the sale as soon as possible
5. Avoid duplicating your ad since craiglist monitors ads frequently and chances are you will be blacklisted permanently if you don't follow rules.
6. Stay glued to AdNotifier since this program sends you automatic updates every time a new ad is posted in your category.
7. Buy low-cost items that you can resale. If you have the skills to purchase and resell items for profit
8. Direct people to an eBay store or link.

You cannot make money ON Craig’s List alone. Not solely with it or because of it, anyway. If you have lots of stuff to sell at a good price, you might be able to make money. Think of Craig’s List like a huge garage sale that has no boundaries. The typical garage sales reach only a few neighborhoods or even one or two counties away. The most extreme garage sale junkies may drive across an entire town like San Antonio, Cleveland or even Atlanta to find a treasure. Most won’t. Most of us do not have stuff that is worth such a quest.
But with Craig’s List, the world is your market. You could sell anything you own (well, ALMOST anything……) to any person who has an Internet connection. If you want to ship that old washing machine to China and your customer is willing to pay the cost, you can make money. But few are willing to do that. Of course, if you have cars or houses or big items like that, you have a better chance at success. If you have the skill to buy at the low price on Craig’s List, then can turn those products around, dress them up a bit, make them look better and nicer, and then post them for SALE on Craig’s List at a higher price, you can make some money. But that seems like a lot of work for very little profit.
There is the category called Free Stuff on the site. If you can amass the free stuff, then turn around and sell it, you have a much better chance. But the good free stuff goes very, very quickly. It would be hard to collect it all and get it back onto Craig’s List in such a manner as to make money. Theoretically, it IS possible. Practically speaking, however, it does seem damn near impossible to make that pay enough to make it worth your while in gas money and the time it is going to take to track down all those items.
