A carefully planned garden can attract butterflies that sip nectar from many flowers and search for a place to lay their larvae. Butterfly gardens are basically organic gardens that use no chemicals. With this in mind, be sure to create a safety zone for your butterflies. Habitual zones and places where areas of the landscape meet with the tree lines are favorite safe places for them. It is also helpful to find out what kinds of butterflies are native to your area so you can find appropriate plants for them.

In an effort to attract butterflies ensure your garden uses certain criteria. Like your garden must be free from pesticides and even ensure your neighbors also do not use it. Your intended garden must be built where it get full sunshine as butterflies are cold-blooded creatures and bank on sun as their heat source.

Ensure your butterfly garden also includes large and small rocks, as they will help in attracting plenty of butterflies. You should also include shallow or muddy water in your garden as butterflies usually drink at the edge of a garden pond. Don’t forget to include "Nectar Plants" for your garden, as they are the food source for the butterflies. Try to include plants like Swamp Milkweed, Joe Pye Weed, Aster, Bee Balm, Zinnia, Pentas, Heliotrope etc. in your garden to attract butterflies.

Butterflies are a glorious sight out any window, and certainly something to take notice of. And while butterflies are fickle and sensitive creatures, captivating them and luring them to visit is not as complicated as it may seem. The main thing to remember is that butterflies, like bees, are natural pollinators which means that their mission in life is to seek out flowers.

There are many different types of flowers which butterflies favor however the most popular type with the phylum are single petaled flowers. The flowers of herbs are particularly interesting, as well as native wild plants like weeds. Reserving a space in your yard where dandelions, milkweed and nettle are allowed to grow without irradiation will guarantee not only a good sum, but also a good variety of butterflies.
