You're doing it right. Three straight apostrophes either side of the text will make the text bold. The link you gave does show the last pipe is bolded. If you increase your font size you might be able to see that more easily. If you're not seeing it, check that you see bold in other articles ok. Usually, the title word is bolded in the first sentence.
