How do I look at or edit the dictionary or spell checker in Firefox?

I think I added a word that I didn't want in there by accident and I want to know how to remove it. Thanks!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Close firefox first. You'll find persdict.dat on C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random characters>.default/.

<your username> is your windows login name

Your personal words are stored in a file named persdict.dat in your profile folder. It's just a text file, so using a text editor, simply edit the misspelled word out of the file.

For Mac go to /Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles. Then open the folder that looks like xxxxxxxx.default. In there there should be a file that is labled persidict.dat

Unfortunately I was unable to find that file in that folder. And I do not have a Mac. The version of Firefox that I am using is 3.0.5. Maybe this will help?
