How do I learn about black and white photography?
Are there any good books on black and white photography? Is it possible to change the lighting with black and white photographs?

Photography is all about controlling light to formulate an image. I am not sure what you mean by “changing the light” in black and white photography. Monochrome or black and white photography can be learned by first of all shooting in black and white. Your digital camera has a setting for grayscale, monochrome or black and white. Practice with the camera is this mode and pay careful attention to shadows and tones.
I highly recommend reading “The Zone System” by Ansel Adams. He essentially wrote this book in the 1940’s and it is still used in photo schools today. This book will teach you how to look at a scene and think about how it will look without color. You can also make or by a viewing filter which is a filter you hold up to your eye that will remove all the color from a scene so you can see how it will look in grayscale.
