Basically this depends on service provider, generally we made software update on our mobile. If we made any hardware update we generally cannot be able to know the updating made on mobile. If we update our mobile with new software then we can check the software version on our mobile to know whether it is updated or not. If we use service provider’s handset and made some software updates then generally it notifies update by massage. Suppose if you are using service providers hand set you have legal software but service provider releases a new version of that software which is not compatible with your handset then generally service provider shows some message to update your software version. But it is not true for all the cases. But generally service provider does it.
